The U2 Bono Effect: Quitting is not an Option in Affiliate Marketing

bono quitting is not an option

How many times have you read that quitting is not an option and that you can’t quit because you can’t let other people’s opinion of you define you or your experience?  I’ve heard motivational speakers like Les Brown say that over and over, but you know, you can get numb to all that positive talk.  You can end up saying to yourself that that all sounds nice coming from the mouth of a highly paid motivational speaker who walks on air all day, but what about down here in the real world where it’s tough and mean?

It applies across the board.

Failure cannot be something that you fear. Instead, embrace it. That is how you learn and how you learn to overcome!

Quitting is not an Option

So take that quote from ol Tom Edison and let’s move on…

Want to Succeed Beyond Your Wildest Dreams? Partner Here, Yo…

Quitting is not an Option So Don’t Prove Those Party Poopers Right

Striking out in business can be a lonely thing. You’ll find yourself up against all kinds of negativity and cynicism.

You’ll be told in great detail all of the reasons why you will fail and that you should just go off to that guaranteed paycheck of a job because it’s more secure and it’s money in the bag without risk.

But, is it…?

I have gone on about getting laid off from jobs. It has happened to me too many times in my life. No one can tell me that having a job is a safe bet or that it is guaranteed. It’s become one of the most volatile things out there.

No, my friends, a job is no longer the “safe bet”.

Now don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with having a job to pay the bills while you are working on your dream gig. Unless you have a trust fund somewhere, you pretty much have to do it that way, while working days at a job you may or may not like and working nights and weekends on your own time to build that dream.

So, don’t let what other people say get to you. Keep repeating to yourself that quitting is not an option and you will never give up.

I remember I used to talk about this stuff with my office lunch buddies when I worked for a certain tech company. This one friend, and he’s still on my friends list, although I don’t see him these days, would always read me off all the reasons why nothing outside of a job would ever work.

  • They’re all scams.
  • It’s just made for the guys at the top.
  • The system is rigged.
  • You’ll go broke paying all those expenses while you’re building it.
  • Guys like us are destined to work our entire lives.
  • The products aren’t sound.

There were probably other reasons he came up with, but you get the picture.

I can’t accept that kind of defeatism, and neither should you.

Don’t let other people define who you are or what you are capable of.

Now, many of those things will come up when you are talking about starting out, but it doesn’t change much when you are still int he midst of building your dream. All of these people will try to get to you.

You’ll run into them at social events, parties, church, wherever.

The wise guy type will come up to you in a crowd with a smirk on his face and ask you how’s that thing you were all excited about way back when.

If you can’t pull out a bankroll to prove your success on the spot, you’re now party laugh fodder for this person who is probably a failure but wants to prove they were right that you wouldn’t succeed, or maybe that their belief that none of this work from home or internet or network marketing stuff works.

People like it when their notions are proven to them.

I’ve seen it with myself and with others who were only trying to succeed.

It was always the ones who you knew that quitting is not an option or ever was an option for them who broke through and had amazing success.

Remember the Thomas Edison picture above all this? It reminds me of a scene from one of my favorite movies, National Treasure with Nicolas Cage.

You just shift your thinking to think of failure as a temporary setback on your road to success, just as Thomas Edison did. None of the great people in history took their failures to heart, and certainly not enough to become totally discouraged or give up completely.

If you want success bad enough, you can’t give up, because you are an intelligent person, and intelligent people know that while success cannot be guaranteed in any endeavor, giving up and quitting ALWAYS results in failure 100% of the time.

If you quit, you lose.

Quitting is not an option for those who want to succeed in life.

Bono Never Quit

Imagine if U2 front man Bono gave up?

Yes, you heard me. One of the most iconic rock bands of all time, Irish rock band U2. Bono is the very famous and very rich front man of this mega rock group.

Well, it wasn’t always that way.

Bono’s real name is Paul Hewson.

In 1979 he was shopping his band, U2, around for a record contract.

Do you think that U2 was signed and succeeded the minute a record company representative heard their music?

Uhm… not really.

Just as YOU may need to hone your style, raise your game, or whatever metaphor that you wish to use for improving your technique to get you to the level where you need to be playing at, U2 and Bono also had this adjustment time. Even one of the eventual greatest rock bands in history didn’t crush it as soon as they started!

Don’t believe me?

Read the letter for yourself.

Bono rejection letter

So the next time you are bothered by your temporary setback and see it as some catastrophic failure, think of how Bono felt when he read the RSO rejection letter sent to Paul Hewson. (Bono)

Bono kept shopping U2 around and probably worked on their sound until the band got a contract. I think that Bono himself would tell you that quitting is not an option for anyone who really wants to succeed in their chosen line of work.

So, whatever your line of work or your business, I hope that you enshrine quitting is not an option into your primary lexicon and never forget it, no matter what hardships or setbacks that you encounter. If you keep getting back up, no one can keep you down.

Whether you are selling goods on Ebay or in your own digital storefront, or doing the affiliate marketing thing and earning commissions on fabulous internet marketing training products, you can succeed if you give it your all.

If anyone tells you otherwise, tell them that I said they’re wrong, and send em here so I can set em straight!

Until next time…

Tom Connelly
