I wasn’t aware of this when it went down, but apparently some unscrupulous marketers from another company hatched a scheme to flag and have deactivated many Empower Network affiliates’ YouTube channels. Now that is the lowest of the low. Imagine taking all that time and energy to create videos and use them for promotion all to have it taken away overnight for nothing, with no recourse. Large web companies like YouTube and it’s parent, Google, can giveth and taketh and they have little you can do. YouTube does have an appeals process and fortunately you CAN get your channel back, but it’s a hassle. They really ought to review the methods that allow these things to happen and make it harder for channels to be pulled without some sort of human review and checking.
Anyway, the reason for this post is to show all of you potential Empower team members (I like to think of you as my future winning team) that now only are the leaders of Empower Network honorable but they really look after their kin, and they consider all of us in Empower their kin, in a way. Dave Wood, backed by Dave Sharpe and other higher ups in Empower, did something bold and man it’s not that they didn’t have my respect already but wow these guys are just the greatest for what they did.
They formed the Dave Wood Empower Network Posse to make these fraudsters back down.
On January 27th, 2013, Dave Wood wrote on his Facebook Wall to address the Empower Network affiliates who unfairly had their entire YouTube channels closed for “copyright violations” after being flagged by an organized group of marketers for another company:
“There is an organized group going around flagging Empower Network reps’ YouTube videos (videos that aren’t even remotely breaking YouTube terms). I have no idea who you are, but I’m guessing you’re on my Facebook wall.
Be warned: BIG, SCARY WARNING: I’m in the process of having lawyers research into whether or not we can sue the shit out of you.
I don’t like lawsuits, but what you’re doing hurts the little guy, and is about the most unethical thing that you can possibly do.
There are part time moms and dads, families who put thousands of hours of effort into their videos – and what you’re doing is bull shit, and you know it, and you need to realize how much it hurts – not me, but the thousands of people who are just trying to make it happen.
There is nothing wrong with these videos you’re flagging, and you know it.
If I can, and I have the money, I’ll get a court to subpoena your contact information from YouTube, and will sue you for damages against ALL of the affiliates that you are targeting. I could give a crap about me – but you are messing with my family.
Back the fuck down. Pass the word on. It’s time that this stops.
After I sue you, and find out who you are, you will go into a hall of shame, for being the most unethical, garbage marketer ever. If you want to come out and make a public apology, now is your chance, and your last chance.
That being said – I love you guys in Empower Network.

To Empower Network: I’ve never asked ANY of you to do anything unethical to market. We’ve left names out of attacks, to let people save face. We allow you to market whatever you want. We let you say whatever you want.
You are awesome, and I love you. You guys are the most badass, ethical group of marketers online, and you deserve the best.

We don’t need to flag other companies’ channels, because we have a dream. We love on people – and that’s ALL that we do – because in one moment, anyone can turn their life around.

WOW! Can you believe THAT? this guy is RICH. None of this was affecting him personally, but he REMEMBERS how hard it was to come up and how he himself was poor as dirt one day, and how he struggled and had that dream to succeed. He cares about YOUR dream to succeed and he took all of the Empower affiliates under his wing with that statement and threw the monetary and legal resources behind his words to protect Empower affiliates and their businesses.
After reading this, I looked around and I found blog posts from hard working Empower Network bloggers posting about how their YouTube accounts were flagged when they didn’t have anything but benign non harmful stuff in there. It’s sad and you could see in their posts how deflated and upset they were. I can imagine if that happened to me. It’s enough to ruin someone’s motivation, drive, and business.
Listen up, folks, Empower Network Dave Wood is the best. Dave Sharpe is the best. Tracey Walker, Lawrence Tam, Justin Verrengia, and the others are the best. They really care and they really want you, and me, and everyone in Empower Network to succeed. This isn’t about only them getting rich off the backs of anyone else. They produce amazing sales and marketing performance knowledge products and an amazingly generous sales opportunity that just cannot be beat by anyone out there.
